In order to manage to get all twelve hours of community service done in one weekend, you must make arrangements before you arrive in Athens. Call one of the approved agencies on your list and explain that you are spending Saturday doing the 8 hours community service, and ask if that agency will allow you to do the other four hours on Friday or Saturday evening. If you have made arrangements to do those four on Saturday evening, let us know on Saturday morning and we will help you in any way we can.
You are expected to make your own arrangements for the remaining four hours community service. Please do not call the Court or Mrs. Norwood to schedule those hours. Those four hours may be done one hour at a time, two hours at a time or four hours on one day.
We are going to be involved in helping the city remove unauthorized flyers and graffiti from city property. We are also working with the Athens County Sheriff's Office this summer to clear unauthorized dump sites. There may be more projects that present other opportunities to finish your Athens community service. Mrs. Norwood will be able to discuss this with you on your workday.
In some cases, the four hours community service is also assigned and supervised. Please check the packet you were given and the contract you signed for that information.
